The other day i had a challenge in about 10 minutes in the night and the anker gave up. Now i have heard what happend. Just read that it was a category F2 tornado. There has been some attention to it. It was about 200 meters in diameter and went 6 km in altitude and had a wind speed of between 50 and 70 m/s. It passed at 70 km/h and I was definitely in the "track". The tornado followed the coastline and thus the 3 ports in Corfu down town were also hit. I have been told that there was ragnerok in the harbors with boats that had torn loose and drifted around. I definitely think I was lucky I was at anchor. It was the safest. I had the impression that it took about 10 minutes, but in reality it has probably only lasted 5 minutes or less because if the speed across the coast has been 70 km/h it has gone fast.

Category F2 is described as "significant destruction". The highest category is F5, which is described as "all destructive" and has wind speeds of up to 150 m/s and up to 20 km altitude and 5 km width. So it can be violent to be in such one. The reason we had such one is because here in the Mediterranean region we have pretty hot weather at the moment.

I have only experienced tornadoes 2 times before and never close. Maybe 40 years ago I saw 3 in a row across North Zealand and about 15 years ago I experienced at good distance one in Illinoi ,USA. I also do not think they are common down here - at least i have not heard about it before.

Tonight we will most likely get violent "lighting" as the forecast indicates a fairly high "charge in the atmosphere" - again due to the heat…
