You meet many English boats down here in the Greece. There are like 2 categories. One is large beautiful and well-kept boats. The second group are some very small - often only 6-8 meters - in very poor condition. One wonders whether it is refugees due to Brexit or very good sailors who can endure the harsh life at sea. I experienced in Italy that such a boat - presumably a self-builder - went out in strong winds and big waves. Of course without rainwear, life jackets or lifelines. It turned out to be too violent so they came back after an hour. One of the wires for the mast top was broken and some rope was intermittently put in. The next morning the wind had died down and the waves slowed down again ..... They went out again from the early morning....without having repaired the wire. Just organized the rope a little. Englishmen are brave.
