Here in Greece which has 3000 islands the country is connected by thousands of small and large ferries. It is fantastic. You becomes impressed by several things in that connection. Sometimes the ferries are full of passengers so they almost look like the pictures you see with boat refugees, but these are just ordinary quite crowded ferries. The other thing that impresses is the boatmen's ability to manage the boats. They can do harbor maneuvers and drop anchor so you think that is a lie. They are amazingly talented. I just used these boats on an excursion, It was a 50 year old Russian built hydrofoil boat, which looked like something in between a submarine and an airplane without wings. but it sailed fine with 30 knots / hour, however with some huge bumps due to the waves. One can rarely praise Russian design - and that was true here too! Spent 2 days at Paxoi at a hotel in Lakka. Also rented a scooter which nicely brought around to small cozy towns by steep and winding mountain roads. I'm not used to driving on scooter and my nerves were a little tense from mountain driving. Fortunately, the Greeks drive considerately and carefully. I'm probably most dangerous to the Greeks
