Yesterday was a very long day. 15 hours sailing, which included 9 hours with strong headwinds and big waves. In addition, I was running out of fuel as the boat used a lot of fuel due to the big waves and fouling of the bottom from the 3 weeks in Rome. Under normal circumstances I would have gone into port in such weather, but there were no ports on the long stretch. The weather forecast had not predicted so much wind. It was dark night when I arrived.

In the harbor pilot, it was not advisable to arrive at the harbor in the dark, as entry was problematic due to sanding. Furthermore, it was stated that by waves it could be very problematic to enter the harbor in general. It was dark, but luckily there were no big waves anymore. When I got close to the port entrance, a boat came out at high speed. Immediately after, there was a light at my boat and on the entrance and the sandbank with some huge floodlights. The light was like night became day . It was the Coast Guard !! Nice service.

Unfortunately I have 3 more of these stretches before Greece - but today I have to rest and do some repairs on sails and boat. There are Sirocco days ahead with strong winds as well as high temperature and humidity , which is the nature of Sirocco. So I will stay here the next 4-5 days until Sunday.
