Get fine through Messina Strait. There were absolutely no problems in it. Sailing in the area between Elsinore and Helsingborg is more challenging. There were some ferries, there were also some fishing boats… but no problems. Strange with all the worrying stories on the internet. I was off at 7am and went into the strait at 8am and was out of the traffic separated zone at 9.30am. I saw a lot of swordfish. Fantastic elegant fish. It seems like they like very current-filled waters because they happily jumped out of the water. Very fascinating. Had plans to sail to the southernmost point of Italy, but found that the port had been closed due to sanding. I therefore turned around and sailed 5 miles back and into the port of Messina. The next stretch will therefore be quite long - 72 miles without ports. It is not that exciting. If the weather is ok I will sail early tomorrow.
