There are many swordfish in the area. I have not seen any, but they grow up to 4.5 meters long and weigh up to 600 kg. Some very special boats have been developed, where the helmsman sits in a tall tower. They sail really fast and can turn very fast. On a long footbridge in front of the boat you stand and harpoon the fish. Truly the strangest boat I have ever seen.

To my surprise, an Italian guy came out on the boat who wanted to greet me as he could see it was a Danish boat. It turned out that Mario - as he was called - had lived in Denmark for 11 years and spoke fluent Danish. Today he lived with his family in Holland and spent 3 months a year on his boat in Italy. Mario had had a pizzaria in Odense, and was the first in Denmark - or maybe just Odense - who in 1984 started bringing Pizzas out on mopeds. Mario was an incredibly helpful guy who told about sailing in the Strait of Messina. I could take it easy. There were absolutely no problems in it. It is only on the internet that everything is being made problematic.
